Uh....yes, yes it does. Imagine someone on the opposite side of the coin telling you that your opinions (not getting specific here----just generalizing) make you an asshole, and that you ought to change them. Would you consider that kind of talk the kind coming from an open-minded person?
You'd probably call them an asshole, too.
What----you AREN'T an asshole? Your opinions ARE right and just? Well maybe these idiots are on the wrong side of history here, but you can't demand one to change their views if you'd be unwilling to do the same, should one ever ask it of you; having the "right" views, as you clearly tout in your defense, doesn't mean anything if you think it's okay for you to demand other people to change.
By the way, a little shout out to Communication 26654: I like how you take the opportunity to liken my communication to that of bigoted rhetoric. I find it funny, really, because A) I never once sided with anyone in this maternity leave fight, and B) I'm the most liberal person I know. I just call shit out when I see it; the OP of the communication calling everyone a blithering idiot was making a point about how people get so fired up on here, their panties so tightly knotted, over something that's futile; sadly, it also means that people, no matter their views, can't post here without some inevitable shit storm to follow. Oh, online, anonymous posting about a "hot button" issue? K, that's one thing, but to get on this "oh, you must be a man" bullshit, and then demanding they change their opinions because it's not aligned with theirs (or the majority, I'm assuming) is ludicrous. I disagree with the OP of the initial liberation, but I similarly disagree with haughty individuals who, upon first glance of something offensive, sound off smugly and presumptuously.
